Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters was handpicked by the National Historical Commission to be this year's "Inang Bayan" for the 119th Philippine Independence Day Celebration last June 12, 2017.

She also took part in the Parada Ng Kalayaan parade along the streets of Manila.
A cultural show was held on the Quirino Grandstand after the parade. Rachel took her part on the finale as this year's "Inang Bayan".
